About me

I currently work at Murdoch university as a Lecturer in the School of Psychology and Exercise Science, where I coordinate undergraduate psychology units. Additionally I work as a coordinator of transnational education for our psychology course run out of Singapore.

I completed my Masters in Industrial/Organisational Psychology at the UWA School of Psychology, and my PhD in Strategic Management at the UWA Business School. My doctoral research was in the area of leader development, specifically looking at the proximal developmental readiness variables that predict whether an individual will see a positive trajectory of leader development over time. I also have a research interests in longitudinal multi-level research, self-regulatory processes, recovery, identity development, and student retention.

I have presented research findings at various conferences including the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP), and have organised and co-chaired two SIOP symposia. My organisationally based leadership research has led to individual and group-based consulting opportunities and practitioner publications.


Teaching area

I am currently the Unit Coordinator for PSY141 – Introduction to Psychological Science and BSC201 – Psychology: Measurement, Design, and Analysis. I am the offshore coordinator of our BA (Psychology) in Singapore. I am also Deputy academic chair of the undergraduate psychology program, onshore and offshore.

Research areas

My main research is in the area of leadership and leader development. I also have research interests in longitudinal and multi-level research, self-regulatory processes, recovery, identity development, and student retention.

The role of perfectionism and self-regulation in predicting student burnout

An investigation into the student-athlete identity

The predictors of academic procrastination
