I am Associate Dean (Research) within the School of Health Professions.


Teaching area

Teaching Experience:
I hold the position: Associate Professor in the School of Health Professions. I teach Evidence-based practice (EBP) and have also taught Public Health. In the past I have lectured in evidence-based practice/clinical epidemiology to pharmacy students at Murdoch University, medical students at Monash University (1995), to chiropractors in Queensland on an on-going basis under the auspices of the Chiropractic & Osteopathic College of Australasia (COCA) [www.coca.com.au], to general practice registrars at James Cook University and to general practitioners under the auspices of the Townsville Division of General Practice. IN 2016 I will also be teaching EBP to Exercise science students.

Research areas

Research Experience:

Publications include 67 papers in peer-reviewed journals with over 2500 citations, one book chapter, 21 conference papers, 23 posters and 17 non-peer reviewed papers. H-Index 15.

Main research interests are evidence based practice, spinal pain, diagnosis, therapies and adverse events from therapy. Also Indigenous health is a key research interest.

3. Mobile Health Clinic for Aboriginal communities in the Pilbara region of WA.
4. The incidence of vertebral artery stroke.
5. The efficacy of chiropractic therapy for spinal pain.
6. Improving the chiropractic student experience in clinical training.
