About me

I have been working at Murdoch University since 2000, initially as an equine registrar and then as a Senior lecturer in equine medicine.  My role is to undertake clinical teaching of veterinary undergraduate and postgraduate students in the area of equine medicine.  I am a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in both equine medicine and surgery and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine as well as being a registered specialist in equine medicine.

Teaching area

My teaching area is focussed around the discipline of horses, namely equine medicine. I am a co-unit coordinator of veterinary professional life, a unit centered around developing professional behaviours in veterinary science through external clinical placements.

Research areas

My research interests are entered around  equine inflammatory airway disease, equine endocrine disease and clinical veterinary education.

Professional and community service

I am part of a team of equine vets who provide a clinical equine veterinary service to The Animal Hospital.

I am very involved with Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA) the national equine group of the Australian Veterinary Association. Involvement includes being an executive member of the committee, chair of the education subcommittee Equine Veterinarians Australia 2013/2014, 2014/2015, 2016/2017and convenor of the annual national EVA conference, the Bain Fallon 2014,2015,2017, chair of the stakeholder subcommittee Equine Veterinarians Australia 2015/2016 and member of the executive of the  Equine Veterinarians Australia 2012 – West Australian State representative and committee member of  the education subcommittee 2012. I am currently president elect for the EVA and will commence my tenure as president in July 2018.

Member of the local advisory group for VetSet2Go – building veterinary employability 2016

I maintain involvement with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists of which I am a member. I have acted as a fellowship (2011, 2012, 2015) and membership (2012) examiner, been on the equine chapter  Education and Examination subcommittee  for Equine medicine (2013 – 2015, 2016/2017) and am on an internal committee for the college (2016-2019)
