    About me

Dr David Goodfield                                                 Postgrad. Dip., BSc(Hons), PhD.                                    Adjunct Associate Lecturer

My PhD was conferred at Murdoch University in April 2016 – “Developing a Model for Carbon Neutral Settlements: A Mine Site Village Case Study.” Throughout my studies, and since graduation, I have applied my knowledge of sustainable engineering systems in a variety of research, teaching and supervisory roles. This, and past experience in construction, enables me to lead a research team, synthesize contributions and complete the report writing process for a wide variety of subjects that include sustainable development, carbon management in the built environment, sustainable construction, the water – energy nexus , solar pumping of water for irrigation in agriculture and remote area water supply, and related renewable energy areas.

    Teaching area

2009 to 2018 – various teaching posts at Murdoch University and Curtin University to include course work, lectures, tutor support, student mentoring, assignment marking, project and examination marking.  Units include:

    • Appropriate Technology for Sustainable Development, 2009 to 2016.
    • Global & Regional Sustainability, 2013 & 2014.
    • Water Auditing & Conservation, 2011 to 2018.
    • Supervision of industry internships for 4th year Environmental Engineering Students.
    • Coordinated an IT team in the development of software to coordinate conference programs, 2015.
    • Appointed as Adjunct Associate Lecturer at Murdoch University.
    • Guest lecturer in sustainable design to 4th year University of Western Australia architecture students.
    • Awaiting confirmation as unit coordinator for ENG300 (Environmental Technology for Sustainability) at Murdoch University.
    • Staff member at Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute – TA for Climate Policy Masters unit at Curtin University, 2017.
