Emerita Associate Professor

About me

I am an Emeritus Associate Professor at Murdoch University and former Adjunct Associate Professor at the Australian National University. I have an Associate Diploma in Piano Performance, Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Sociology), Master of Cognitive Science and Doctor of Philosophy (Communication Studies). My current research interests are the impacts of technologies on communication, culture, migration and learning. I have published 7 books, 14 edited proceedings, and more than 90 papers in journals, books and conference proceedings. I am a member of the Board of Governors of the Informing Science Institute and the Editor-in-Chief of the Interdisciplinary Journal of e-Skills and Lifelong Learning, on the editorial boards of the Journal of Computer-mediated Communication, New Media and Society, International Journal of e-Learning, and Human Communication Research. With Charles Ess, I have co-chaired eight international and interdisciplinary conferences on Cultural Attitudes towards Technology and Communication (CATaC). I have given invited talks in numerous countries including the USA, South Africa, Russia, Germany, Israel, and Sweden.
