Dr Helena Kadmos
BA, Dip Ed, MA, PhD

About me

I am a creative writing scholar with practice-led research interests in the short story cycle and memoir-writing. During 2016 and 2017 I was the Krishna Somers Postdoctoral Fellow in Literary Studies. I currently teach literature, and academic and creative writing with the  School of Arts, and supervise Honours and postgraduate students in literature and creative writing. I have a teaching background in WA primary and secondary schools.

Teaching area

I teach across literary and creative writing studies, and academic writing skills.

I supervise Honours and postgraduate students in English and Creative Writing.

Research areas

My research interest is the short story cycle; the re-emerging interest in shorter, independent yet interconnected narratives; and in particular the potential of this form to represent women’s ordinary lives. As a creative writing scholar, I investigate and articulate my findings through traditional and non traditional research outputs, producing for publication both original works of fiction and scholarly articles.
