Lecturer in Psychology

About me

I am a registered Psychologist and Lecturer in Psychology. I completed my Bachelors and Masters degrees at Murdoch, whilst working in HR. My Masters looked at fatigue in different roster patterns (swings) in the mining industry for Rio Tinto. With this, I travelled around Karratha and surrounding areas, as well as Paraburdoo and Tom Price.

I then worked in a counselling role in the Department of Corrective Services (DCS), before moving into Employee Relations in the construction industry working with both FIFO and residential employees. I returned to DCS to work as the Recruitment Psychologist in the Strategic Human Resources Team for Prisons. I have also done some consultancy work for UWA, the Perth Zoo and DCS; and am an Army Reserves Psychology Officer.

I have taught in the Organisational Psychology program at Murdoch since 2007 and my interests relate to well-being at work, which includes stress, bullying, burnout, fatigue and health and safety at work. FIFO workers and FIFO partners/families are of particular interest to our current research.

Research areas

My Master’s research explored fatigue in different roster patterns in FIFO and DIDO workers. My Doctoral research is looking specifically at FIFO workers.

Other research interests are burnout, job satisfaction, work-life balance, fatigue, work motivation and organisational measurement.

Current projects

Fatigue Risk Management System benchmarking and fatigue related to shift workers.

Positive Psychology at work is an area that I am currently working on with industry.
