    BSc, MSc, PhD

    Applied Phycologist

    About me

I am a senior algal technical specialist who has over 20 years experience as an applied phycologist and being involved in wastewater treatment as well as biomass production from microalgae. I have led Murdoch University algal team since 2012. Currently, I am the energy lead and fellow of Harry Butler Institute Centre for Water, Energy and Waste (https://www.murdoch.edu.au/research/hbi/our-centres/centre-for-water-energy-waste). During the last few years I have mainly been involved in developing large-scale microalgae culture for wastewater treatment and biomass production. Further, I am very interested in developing novel methodologies (i.e. milking) for improving microalgae cultivation systems and increasing biomass productivity. I also have experience in both conventional and unconventional biofuel production, and in developing life cycle analysis for algae to biofuel production. I am also ranked Elsevier’s top 2% author (Baas, et al. (2021), “August 2021 data-update for “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators””, Mendeley Data, V3, doi: 10.17632/btchxktzyw.3)
