About me

Dr LOH, Heng Meng Patrick is a Director-Shareholder of LINK (THM) SCIENCES Pte Ltd. In 2008 to 2010, he is appointed President Commissioner/Non-Executive Chairman of both IDX-listed  PT. Citra Kebun Raya Agri and PT. Royal Oak Development Asia in the Republic of Indonesia. He has served as Chairman of Scientific Advisory Board at SGX-listed Eu Yan Sang International Ltd from 2011 to June 2013 and as its Chief Scientific Officer from 2007 to 2011. In June ‘13, he is appointed Chairman of the Academic Advisory Board of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation-Institute of Higher Learning (working partner with Murdoch University, University of Newcastle, Edith Cowan University in Australia and the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom).

A practicing plant scientist, he is one of the early pioneering bio-entrepreneurs in Singapore who has successfully established the commercial application of biological and molecular techniques to plant and crop improvements in the agro-based industries in the ASEAN region.

Dr Loh is an Adjunct Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business (Strategy and Organization), Singapore Management University (SMU); the School of Science and Technology, SIM University (UniSIM) and also at the School of Veterinary and Life Sciences, Murdoch University in Western Australia.  In March 2011, he is appointed a Member of the Industry Advisory Panel and in 2016, as Visiting Professor to the School of Biosciences and the School of Medicine at Taylor’s University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In October 2011, he is Co-Principal Investigator at the Centre for Cancer Research (CCR) and the International Collaborative Partner Global Network (ICPGN) at the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)’s Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences in Malaysia. In June ’13, he is appointed a Member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore. He served as Agri-Adviser to the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), Ministry of National Development from 2003 to 2011.

He is a qualified Member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture (MCIHort) and the Chartered Institute of Management for Sport & Physical Acitivity (CIMSPA) in the United Kingdom. In 2005, admitted as Member of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science & Technology (AIAST) and a Certified Practicing Agriculturist (CPAg) of Australia and New Zealand.  He is an Advisory Panel Member of the School of Science & Technology at SIM University (UniSIM) and also the School of Chemical & Life Sciences at the Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore. Dr Loh is the Mentor-in-Residence of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE) at the Singapore Management University (SMU). He is an Editorial Member of the International Journal of Business Information Systems Strategies (IJBISS) and a peer-reviewer for the Journal of Alternative and Complimentary Medicine. Dr Loh is trained and qualified in Clinical Hypnotherapy and also a Certified Member of the International Medical And Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA) in Laceyville, Pennsylvania, USA.

Dr Loh completed his doctoral research training in plant virology and tissue culture technology from the Institute of Arable Crops Research, ROTHAMSTED EXPERIMENTAL STATION (estb 1843, Harpenden) United Kingdom. He earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1992 from the University of Dubuque (estb 1852, Dubuque), Iowa, USA.

In 2015, he received the highest science honor – the Honorary Doctorate of Science (HonDSc) from Murdoch University, Western Australia in recognition of his exceptional contributions to science, academia and agribusiness in the ASEAN region. In May 2016, he is appointed Mentor to the Development Bank of Singapore (DBS) Innovation Group Hotspot for its “start-ups” and the DBS Entrepreneurs.

In 2009, he filed a joint-Patent in the USA with researchers from the Nanyang Polytechnic of Singapore on “Method of Making A Red Yeast Rice Extract” (US Patent Application:US61/167543, 2009) and published in the Scientific Reports of Nature.com in March 2012.

In 2011, together with food technologists from the Food Science & Nutrition programme of the School of Chemical & Life Sciences at Nanyang Polytechnic, developed “Frozherb” Recipe – a combination of two herbal ice creams consisting of Hawthorn and Wolfberries. “Frozherb” competed with more than 100 flavours from 25 countries including China’s Mengniu Dairy Company (China’s biggest supplier of dairy produce) and Japan’s Meiji Dairy Company to win the “Best New Ice Cream” Award at the 2011 International Dairy Federation (IDF) Dairy Innovation Competition in Parma, Italy.

In June 2012, he filed a Patent on “Method to Extract Borneol From Exudates of Dryobalanops aromatica” (Grant of New Patent No.PI 2012002620) in Malaysia with medical researchers from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) in Malaysia.

In April 2014, a Patent (Grant of Patent No:175085) is granted by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) for the invention of  “Plant Extract Comprising Statins And Preparation Techniques And Uses Thereof”.

Latest Product Development:  An innovative nutritional medicine/supplement (LPR-1) is developed after 6 years of R&D effort with cultured (both in-vitro & in-vivo) herbal ingredients, proprietary extraction, formulation and patented control-release technologies for “slowing down the effect of organ cellular ageing” (Lipid Peroxidation Reduction-1) in the human body. In March 2015, the Health Sciences Authority of Singapore (HSA) has approved its commercial sales in Singapore and in April 2015, an official Trade Mark has been granted by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).

In recognition of his leadership to the community, Dr Loh was conferred the PINGKAT BAKTI MASYARAKAT (PBM – THE PUBLIC SERVICE MEDAL) in 2001 and the BINTANG BAKTI MASYARAKAT (BBM – THE PUBLIC SERVICE STAR) in 2006 by HIS EXCELLENCY, THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE.
