About me

I’m an artist working with Photography, I create my own cameras, lenses and I use antiquarian and primitive photographic processes to make images. My interests are hybrid antiquarian/digital imaging and I research and teach the history of photography, genres & iconography that crossover from earlier media like painting to photography.

Teaching area: Photography Major

Photography Major course: PHO124 Photography One, PHO101 Digital Imaging Lecturer, PHO202 Photography Two, PHO202 Documentary Lecturer, PHO204 Image Literature (the origin of genres) PHO306 Advanced Lighting.

Current projects

1. Research into a trove of glass plates from the late 1800′s/early 1900′s by an unknown, very talented Western Australian Photographer: Who was she? (we think it was a young woman) What was her training? Was she involved in professional/amateur local Photography Associations ? Where did she obtain her knowledge of contemporary Art Photography trends she obviously worked with?

2. Collaboration with Rick Mason on Yarloop Industrial workshops Interpretation Centre.

3. PhD research into the iconography & aesthetic categories of  landscape originating in  painting and taken up by photography.

4. Creative projects using hybrid primitive and digital photography techniques for exhibition.
