    About me

    I am an environmental research scientist holding a PhD in Environmental Science from Murdoch University. I joined Murdoch University since 2004 conducting numerous externally funded research and consulting projects funded by the Environmental Biotechnology CRC, ARC, and Water Corporation, etc. Over the years, I have been involved in numerous environmentally focused projects, particularly in the water and wastewater treatment, solid waste treatment/disposal, air pollution/odour control, and simulation modeling.

     

    Teaching area

    Bioenergy and Biological Wastewater Treatment

    This unit introduces the student to the principles of mass and energy flow in natural and engineered ecosystems (e.g. aqueous environments, bioreactors, agriculture, industry). Biological waste and wastewater treatment options including resource recovery are quantified in terms of mass balance, kinetics and process control.  Reasons for waste accumulation are evaluated. Steady-state equilibria are investigated as possible drivers of sustainable processes. Key environmental technologies that turn wastes to resources (e.g. waste to energy, bio-conversion, water recycling, nutrient recovery etc.) or limit pollution will be covered in detail and implementation options debated. Students learn to quantify biological waste and wastewater treatment processes in the form of models, spreadsheets and laboratory experiments

    My research area includes water and wastewater treatment, solid waste treatment/disposal, air pollution/odour control, bioprocess and simulation modeling.
